What we believe

Household of Christ Church is rooted in LOVE, as taught by Jesus Christ. This is evidenced in the relationship between the Pastors and the congregants, or one member to another.

As a part of Household of Christ Church, you shall receive roots for growth and wings for flight. The scripture behind THE HOUSEHOLD’s divine mandate and the name, Household of Christ Church (aka The Gateway of Heaven) is rooted in Genesis 28:16-19.

The Purpose of THE HOUSEHOLD CHURCH
  • The five (5) purposes of the Universal Church are as follows: (Matt. 22:37-40, 28:19-20, Acts 2:42-47) – Worship, Ministry, Evangelism, Fellowship, and Discipleship.
  • The purpose of Household of Christ Church is: to engage, enrich, enlighten, equip and empower people with roots for growth and wings for flight, in accordance with the great commission (Matt. 28:18).

Our Mission statement

Our Faith statement

1. The Scripture: We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible, authoritative Word of God. When rightly divided and properly interpreted, it provides sufficient revelation for the church to be complete in doctrine, maturity, ministry and worship (II Timothy 3:16; I Thess. 2:13; II Peter 1:21).

2. The Godhead: We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost (Philippians 2:6; Matthew 3: 16-17).

3. The Deity of Christ: We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, and His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection from the dead, in His ascension back to the Father’s right hand to make intercession for believers, and in His Second Coming to rule and reign in power and glory.

4. Man, His Fall, and Redemption: We believe all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, therefore, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is necessary for the salvation of lost man and this miracle is wrought through simple faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ (Romans 5:12; Romans 3:23; Romans 3:8-9; I John 3:8; Galatians 3:13-14).

5. Sanctification: We believe in Sanctification to be a new quality of life in Christ that commences at the new birth, develops through a growing process, and consummates at the appearing of Christ when all believers will be glorified (Heb. 12:14; I Thess. 5:23; II Peter 3:18; II Cor. 3:18; Philippians 3:12-14; I Cor. 1:30).

6. Ministry of the Holy Spirit: We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the believer is enabled to live a victorious life and demonstrate Christ-like maturity.

7. Baptism in the Holy Spirit: We believe in the Spirit-filled life that begins at the Baptism of the Spirit and is enhanced through multiple post-conversion experiences and is maintained through continual obedience to the Word of God (Matthew 3-11; John 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; Acts 38-39; Acts 19:1-7; Acts 2:4).

8. Gifts of the Spirit: We believe in the present operation of the gifts of the Spirit that are listed in the New Testament and expect and encourage all believers to exercise their spiritual gifts to the edifying of the body of Christ (I Cor. 12:4-11; 1 Cor. 14:3-5; Rom. 1:11; I Tim. 4:14; II Tim. 1:6)

9. Resurrection of the saved and the lost: We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost. They that are saved will experience resurrection unto life and glory; the lost will experience resurrection unto eternal death and damnation (Acts 1:11; I Thess. 4:16-17; John 5:28-29).

10. Unity of believers: We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers; that each Christian, regardless of local congregational affiliation, is a member of the body of Christ and is worthy to be called a “brother” or “sister” in the Lord (I Cor. 1:10).

11. Communion & Water Baptism: We believe that Holy Communion and Water Baptism are the two precious ordinances Christ gave to His Church. Holy Communion is a sacred supper, whereby believers partake of the presence of Christ in a unique fashion through the elements of wine and bread (I Cor. 11:23-31; Hebrews 9; I Cor. 11:25; I Cor. 11:28-30).

Water Baptism is by immersion in the Name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost and is for individuals who have come to the conscious decision of faith in Christ (Matt. 28:19; Romans 6:4; Coll. 2:12; Acts 8:36-39).

12. Holiness: We believe in holiness to be God’s standard of living for His people and that holiness is defined by the example of Christ, the teachings of the New Testament and the moral attributes of God (Hebrews 12:14; Rom. 7:12; Eph. 1:14)

13. Divine Healing: We believe that God provides divine healing for His suffering people in answer to believing prayer; and this healing may be instant, progressive or ultimate healing (Mark 16:18; James 5:14-20; I Peter 2:24; Matt. 8:17; Isaiah 53:5)

14. Pre-millennial Second Coming: We believe in the pre-millennial Second Coming of Jesus to establish the promised Kingdom of God on the earth, to reign for 1,000 years, and to prepare humanity for an eternal state in which there will be a new heaven and earth and the City of God, the New Jerusalem, will descend to earth for God to dwell forever in perfect harmony with His creation.

15. Laying On of Hands. A simple belief that power or anointing or any other necessary quality can be transmitted from one person touching another. Laying on of hands was practiced by the Leviticus priesthood. Jesus practiced it in Mark 10:13-16 as a blessing, and is our grounds for baby dedication instead of baptism.

Laying on of hands for healing (Mark 5:22-23,41; Mark 5:28-31; Acts 28:8; Acts19:11-12); laying on of hands to confer office (Acts 8:16-18); laying on of hands to receive the Holy Spirit (Acts 8:16-18); laying on of hands to believe words spoken, to receive anointing, and to cultivate the anointing

(I Tim. 4:14); laying on of hands for ordination to consecrate and receive the necessary ministry tools (I Tim. 4:14).

16. The prosperity of the Believer. It is the will of God not only to supply the basic needs of every believer but also to cause each to prosper financially. Salvation through Jesus Christ empowers the believer to be a better steward of the assets that He supplies. Success and prosperity are two of the countless benefits that will increase in the believer’s life as he matures. These blessings are given us so that we may assist in the propagation of the Gospel. (III John 1:2; Matthew 6:30; Joshua 1:8; Deut. 8:18)

17. Five-Fold Ministry. The fivefold ministry of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers for the equipping of the saints should be fully functional within the local church. (I Cor. 12:28; Acts 13: 1-2; Luke 11:49)

18. Deliverance. There is a place of personal deliverance for each believer subsequent to salvation. Every believer has the right and authority to live a life free from demonic activity through the name of Jesus Christ. (Luke 4:18; Acts 10:38)

19. Sexuality. All human beings are either a heterosexual male or female. We are not to alter one’s sexual identity and that sexual union is Permissible only between those of the opposite sex in the boundaries of marriage. Gen. 1:27-28; Gen 5:1-2; Mark 10:6-9; Deut. 22:5; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Lev 18:22; Lev 20:13

20. Marriage. By definition of the Bible, marriage is one person born a male, married by ceremony to one person born a female; that the married couple be equally yoked by virtue of the born-again experience. Marriage is to be honored and encouraged among all. It is the reflection of Jesus to His Church which is called His Bride. Gen 1:22-24; Matt 19:4-5; Heb. 13:4; Eph. 5:25-27; Rev 19:7-9
